Finding technologies to work on the cause of diseases

The understanding of diseases and of patients needs leads to the generation of numerous ideas that can be converted into testable prototypes. This process is highly experimental with high failure rates and only occasional eureka moments. On average, from more than 100 ideas, only one will lead to successful ­ medicine (a finished product). The ideas identified for development go through pharmacokinetics and toxicology testing and are then formulated as potential new products.
